Between August 1934 to October 1936, the “Red Army” comprised of farmers and workers who went through the famous “Long March” in the Chinese Communist Party history.  In year 1965, to commemorate the 30-year anniversary of Long March, a long musical named “Long March Epic” was composed mixing 12 patriotic and traditional Chinese folk songs.  It was widely performed and staged across China’s major cities.  10 years later in 1976, the “Long March Epic” was further adapted into a musical movie production, very first one ever made  in China in its early film industry development.  The presentation of Long Expedition went through from songs to stage performance to a movie.

In this video featured on Tudou, the latest re-mix of the Long March Epic is now matched to the pop culture classic “Beat It” by Michael Jackson — creatively re-edited by a Tudou video blogger!  The Long March seems to have become a long forgotten part of history by those born after 1980 in China, but somehow re-interpreted by the music language of the new era.  Through the hilarious combination the Red Army movements seems to rock with Michael’s beat seamlessly.

This video has been widely spread within a short time, and more Red Army movie series’ old footage were further uploaded shared on Tudou.  This Long March Epic music video, combining old and not-so-old, the Chinese and the American, the old fashioned patriotism and rock rebel, seems to present a fresh fusion that no one would have imagined.
