In animation “The Adventure of Li, Xian-Ji,” director Yang Li depicted protagonist Li, Xian-Ji going out of the way seeking his next meaning in life after breaking up with true love.
His adventure included buying ecstasy-guaranteed drugs, gathering 500,000 yuan cash for the drug, chasing Osama bin Laden-like villain across the dessert, and meeting super heroin who looks like Angelina Jolie.
All he wanted was the time to stop. There is car chasing, gun fighting, and massive bombing – all so real yet so surreal in the concentrated 20-minute animation.

“Water Brain”: begins with a huge industrial plant setting with kids buried by their desks doing homework. Their water brains boiled with stress and fear while giant monsters are watching over them.
It’s dark, gloomy, depressing, and a bit scary. This video exhibits a subtle underlining voice questioning the education system and how children are educated and raised in China. Many, like the no-name Water Brain kid in the animation, are seen giving up on their dreams – which can be interpreted as being a reflection through the director’s point of view of current society in China.

“War of Internet Addiction” is a 64 minute machinima produced entirely from within World of Warcraft. It is a bold statement from the Chinese game community who collaborated to speak out and send a message to Chinese authorities over their frustration regarding the crack-down of the World of Warcraft game in early 2010.
Based on the storyline, 100 gamers congregated on the game platform, performed with their virtual characters in the game setting and captured all the video game screenshots from this lengthy process. Completing the 64-minute video game movie took 3 months – zero costs except for broadband, electricity bills, and lots of cigarettes.
The significance of its win at the Tudou Video Festival was picked up by CNN and TechCrunch
